    Monitoring Time Zones

There are few screens in the product where monitoring data is shown either on real-time charts or as a set of log records using date/time picker control.

    These screens are:

    1. Dashboards

    2. Services real-time charts and monitoring logs

    3. Service Agreement Violations real-time charts and Violation logs

    4. Service Agreement Trends real-time charts and Trends logs

    5. Sentinet Repository Audit records

    6. Sentinet Node Activity logs

Dashboards (1) and Services real-time charts and monitoring logs (2) from the list above show data in the Reporting Time Zone. Sentinet generates reports and provides Monitoring Graphs for real-time message exchanges. Both reports and Monitoring Graphs can show data aggregated over specified time periods. Data aggregation results may depend on the Time Zone used by the Sentinet data aggregation processes. To avoid ambiguity, Sentinet uses a single Time Zone configured for the data aggregation processes. That time zone is called Reporting Time Zone. It is configured with the product from the Repository Configuration Wizard (see Installation Guide, Repository Web Services Application -> Configuration chapter). Your local browser time zone can be different from the Reporting Time Zone. That is why real-time charts show real-time data in the Reporting Time Zone, but not in the local browser time zone. It also means that if you want to use date/time picker control, you enter date and time in the Reporting Time Zone.

Service Agreements are always defined in their own, individual time zones. This can be a time zone that is different from both Reporting Time Zone and your local browser time zone. Real-time violations and trends charts, and violations and trends logs (3, 4), always show data in the Service Agreement's time zone. This is similar to the description above except that Service Agreement specific time zone is used instead of the product's Reporting Time Zone. If you want to use date/time picker control for Service Agreement logs, enter date and time in the Service Agreement specific time zone.

Sentinet Repository Audit records and Sentinet Node Activity logs (5, 6) are not associated with any particular time zone. As a result, these records are always displayed in the browser local time zone. If you want to use date/time picker control for Auditing or Node Activity tracking, enter date and time in your local browser time zone.
