Monitoring Perspectives
Sentinet provides the following service monitoring perspectives:
Monitoring virtual service from the perspective of a consumer application (virtual service monitoring).
Monitoring (physical/backend) service from the perspective of a Sentinet virtual service (physical service monitoring).
Monitoring all services hosted on one Node (Node monitoring perspective).
Monitoring all business or virtual services registered in a selected Repository folder (select Services or Virtual Services group tree element in the Repository tree).
Items 1 and 2 above may produce different results as a message exchange can be interpreted as an overall success when observed from the consumer perspective, but it can be treated as partial success with intermittent errors when observed from the virtual service perspective. For example, a message that was successfully failed-over to an alternative routing endpoint is reported as successful transaction when viewed from the consumer perspective. The same transaction is reported with errors when viewed from the perspective of a virtual service (which is an immediate consumer of the business service).
